Transport from Ibiza airport to Formentera

Formentera has no airport and the only way to reach the island is by sea. If you are arriving by plane to Ibiza, the distance between the airport of Puerto Ibiza is just 8 kilometers. You can cover the route through a private transfer for groups, by taxi (about 20 euros) or by bus. Here we leave the bus ride from Ibiza airport to the Port of Ibiza:

Summer (02/04 – 31/10)

There are several companies doing the journey Ibiza-Formentera and back as Balearia, Mediterranea Pitiusa and Transmapi at both, fast or slow boats, that will bring you to Formentera in 25 to 60 minutes one way. Distance 23.5 km to the port of Formentera. Be careful with the timetables, because there are no boats during the night, and some plains are landing to Ibiza very late in the night.

The price for the ferry return ticket is between 40 € and 50 € per person. And one way between 20 € and 30 €. There are good discounts for travellers that are registered as local residents, but you need and updated letter from the Council proving that you are a local resident, but the letter expires every 6 months. You need to renew the letter of empadronamiento at the Council every 6 months.

Although there is usually no problem to buy tickets at the time, all companies offer purchase tickets online, which can be more convenient and cheaper for many travelers, especially at key times like August.
